The amount of hyaluronic acid decreases in ageing skin: around this time wrinkles start to develop and they become deeper. The injected substance gives the skin its youthful tone and elasticity back. Dextran microspheres (pearls) facilitate the skin to produce own collagen fibers, so the results are longer lasting this way. This is an important novelty compared to other volume fillers which are completely absorbed after a few months. The substance is a hyaluronic acid gel not of animal origin, it is biocompatible and absorbing. Lasting of the treatment depends on many factors. Among others it is influenced by the patient’s individual characteristics: there are people whose body metabolizes the substance slowly, others rapidly. In general we can say that the treatment performed in two steps provides results lasting for 1-1.5 years. Of course the treatment can be repeated later. There are special substances available specially for lip augmentation (lip filling), the degradation of which is slower than the hyaluronic acid’s. But at the same time its application has proven to be safe.
